What We Believe

1. ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Bible is God's Word to all men. We believe the Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is without any errors: it is the standard by which we test everything we do in life and everything we believe about God. [2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Psalm 119:105]

 2. ABOUT GOD

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is the only True and Living God. He has existed eternally in three personalities: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. We call this the Trinity. They are
co-equals yet they are one. [Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22, Matthew 28:19, Mark 1:9-11, John 4:24,10:30]

 3. ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the only Son that God had. As a part of the Trinity, Jesus is co-equal with His Father. He took the form of a human when was born of a virgin. He was tempted by sin but never sinned. Through His perfect life He completely fulfilled the law, and then suffered and died on the cross to pay for our sins. He was buried and rose again the third day. He ascended to His Father in Heaven, at whose right hand He lives forever to intercede for us. He is our only Mediator, the Prophet, Priest and King of the church, and Ruler of the universe. One day. He will return again to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. [Isaiah 53:5-6, Matthew 1:22-23, John 1:1-5, 14:10-30, Hebrews 4:14-15,1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, 1 Timothy 6:14-15,1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Titus 2:13]

 4. ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is equal both to the Father and the Son, as God in the Trinity. His task in this world is to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He comes to live inside every believer the moment they receive Jesus as their Lord. He provides them with power for living, the ability to understand spiritual truths, ministry gifts with which they serve, and daily guidance in doing what is right. [John 14:16-17,16:7-13, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:9,1 Corinthians 2:12,12:4,7,2 Corinthians 3:17, Ephesians 1:13]

 5. ABOUT MAN

We believe that man was created perfectly in the image of God—to have His character. Man was the crowning achievement of creation. But because he voluntarily committed sin he became separated from God. The human race was cursed and now all people commit sin and are condemned because of their sin. [Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 59:1-2, Romans 3:23, 5:12]

 6. ABOUT ETERNITY

Man was created by God to live forever. He will exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is to live forever in hell. To be eternally in union with God is to live forever in Heaven. [Isaiah 59:2, John 3:16,2:25, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15, 21:8, Mark 9:42-48, John 14:1-4, Revelation 21-22]

 7. ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that people are saved through grace alone, and that grace comes because of the atoning death and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift from God and it cannot be obtained through our works. A person is saved by repenting of their sin, making a commitment of his or her life to Jesus Christ, and receiving Him as their Lord and Savior. [Luke 13:3-5, Acts 20:21,16:31, Romans 6:23,10:9-10,13, Eph. 2:8-9, John 1:12,14:6, Romans 5:1, Titus 3:5]

 8. ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY

Because salvation is a gift from God through the Lord Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for all eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-efforts of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that provides the believer with security. [John 10:29, 2 Timothy 1:12, Hebrews 7:25, 10:10,14 13:5-6,1 Peter 1:3-5,1 John 5:13]

 9. ABOUT SANCTIFICATION

We believe that sanctification is a progressive process by which the believer is made to become more and more like God in areas of daily purity and personal holiness. It takes place in the hearts of believers who yield themselves to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Holiness is maintained through regular repentance and confession of any sin. [Philippians2:12-13,1 Peter 1:13-16, Romans 8:1-15,1 John 1:8-9]
